Unani medicine and treatment for piles & fistula-in-ano

Unani System :

Unani system of medicines and treatment may seemingly look like Ayurveda but there are subtle differences. The system is based on humoral theory or those relating to he body fluids, in particular (of immunity) involving the action of circulating antibodies.
The four bodily humors are blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile. This in turn denotes a person as sanguine, phlegmatic, choleric or melancholic. Likewise the medicinal plants too are assigned temperament. The drug’s formulation depends on the four facets as mentioned earlier.
The treatment here comprises of three components: Preventive, promotive and curative. Thus far this seem to have done well. The Unani systems of medicines have specialized on rheumatic arthritis, jaundice, filariasis, eczema, psoriasis, sinusitis and bronchial asthma. Like other Indian systems of medicine Unani researchers too have embarked upon to find solutions for HIV/AIDS, cancer, cardio-vascular disorders and TB.

Gonorrhea -sexually transmitted diseases - Treatment and Symptoms

Gonorrhea is amongst the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the world and is caused by Gram-negative bacterium Neisseria gonorrheae. The term comes from Greek γονόρροια (gonórrhoia), literally "flow of seed"; in ancient times it was incorrectly believed that the pus discharge associated with the disease contained semen.
The first place this bacterium infects is usually the columnar epithelium of the urethra and endocervix. Non-genital sites in which it thrives are in the rectum, the oropharynx and the conjunctivae of the eyes. The vulva and vagina in women are usually spared because they are lined by stratified epithelial cells—in women the cervix is the usual first site of infection.
Gonorrhea spreads during sexual intercourse, whereby the infected partner need not be human.[1] Infected women also can pass gonorrhea to their newborn infants during delivery, causing eye infections (conjunctivitis) in their babies (which if left untreated, can cause blindness). Doctors have often attempted to treat this immediately by applying small amounts of silver nitrate to the eyes of all newborn babies. Gonorrhea among females can also be transmitted from one individual to another via contact to surfaces that may still be damp from prior contact.
Symptoms :
The incubation period varies from two to 14 days with most symptoms occurring between days 2 and 5 after being infected from an infected partner. A small number of people may be asymptomatic for up to a year. Between 30–60% of women with gonorrhea are asymptomatic or have subclinical disease.[2] The woman may complain of vaginal discharge, difficulty urinating (dysuria), off-cycle menstrual bleeding, or bleeding after sexual intercourse. The cervix may appear anywhere from normal to the extreme of marked cervical inflammation (cervicitis) with pus. Infection of the urethra (urethritis) causes little dysuria or pus. The combination of urethritis and cervicitis on examination strongly supports a gonorrhea diagnosis, as both sites are infected in most gonorrhea patients.
More advanced symptoms, which may indicate development of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), include cramps and pain, bleeding between menstrual periods, vomiting, or fever. It is not unusual for men to have asymptomatic gonorrhea. Men may complain of pain on urinating and thick, copious, urethral pus discharge (also known as gleet) is the most common presentation. Examination may show a reddened external urethral meatus. Ascending infection may involve the epididymis, testicles or prostate gland causing symptoms such as scrotal pain or swelling.

Warm water and the prevention of heart attacks

This is a very good article. Not only about the warm water after your meal, but about heart attacks. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals, not cold water, maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating.

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal. A serious note about heart attacks - You should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive. A cardiologist says if everyone who reads this message sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life. Read this & Send to a friend. It could save a life. So, please be a true friend and send this article to all your friends you care about.

Prostate Cancer Symptoms,diagnosis and treatments

prostate cancer can be a life-altering experience. It requires making some very difficult decisions about treatments that can affect not only the life of the man diagnosed, but also the lives of his family members in significant ways for many years to come

What is prostate ?

Roughly the size of a walnut and situated around the neck of the bladder, the prostate gland is part of the male reproductive system and is vital in the production of semen.
The tube through which the urine passes is called the urethra, which goes through the prostate gland.
If the prostate enlarges, then the urethra narrows and urination problems occur.
The prostate is also the centre for a bundle of sexual nerves, which is why prostate problems can cause impotence.

Prostate Homeopathic treatment :
The system of homeopathic medicine has a promising role to offer for the treatment of various diseases associated with prostate gland, inclusive of all its variants. Homeopathy, a branch of alternative medicines, can address majority of these problems effectively, gently and without using knife.Homeopathic approach towards prostate diseasesThe unique feature of Homeopathy philosophy is that Homeopathy aims at treating the patient who is diseased rather than merely treating the diseased organs of the patient. 'Treat the patient, not the disease' is a dictum practiced by homeopaths over 200 years. This simply means that the disease should not be treated superficially as if it is an independent entity in the body. Instead it is perceived that every disease is a result of the dysfunction of the whole body, as every system in the human body is interlinked. When we approach the patient with the idea of 'treating the patient and not the disease,' it is important to note that the disease gets automatically treated when the 'patient as a whole' is treated. This holds true with prostate diseases also. Whether it is prostatitis or prostate enlargement Homeopathy perceives this as total affliction of body and not of the prostate gland alone. The basic approach in homeopathy is to evaluate the diseases of prostate in its whole extent, whereby a lot of emphasis is given to the patient as a whole besides minutely studying various aspects of the prostate disorders. This is called as totalistic approach. Moreover, homeopathy firmly believes in enhancing body's own curative power to maintain the healthy status. The homeopathic approach is to enhance body's own healing capacity so that the deep-rooted maladies can be removed from the roots.

Ayurvedic treatment for leukemia (Cancer)

Constipation is a frequent cause of distress in advanced cancer. A palliative care unit in Kerala, a southern state of India, conducted a controlled trial comparing a liquid Ayurvedic (herbal) preparation (Misrakasneham) with a conventional laxative tablet (Sofsena) in the management of opioid-induced constipation in patients with advanced cancer. Although there was no statistically significant difference in the apparent degree of laxative action between the two, the results indicate that the small volume of the drug required for effective laxative action, the tolerable taste, the once-daily dose, the acceptable side effect profile, and the low cost make Misrakasneham a good choice for prophylaxis in opioid-induced constipation. There is a need for further studies of Ayurvedic medicines in palliative care.

U.S. scientists hold talks with AIMS for research on breast cancer

Scientists from the New York University School of Medicine are here for preliminary talks with the Amrita Cancer Institute at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) for collaboration on world-wide research on breast cancer.
In a project promoted by the New York University, three other centres apart from New York have been identified for a multi-disciplinary study on advanced breast cancer. Cape Town in South Africa, Mexico City, Mexico and Kochi were listed as study centres considering the increased number of breast cancers reported from these places.
Paolo Toniolo, Director of the Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, who is involved in studying the role of hormones and nutrition in cancers in women, especially in the breast, will be heading the medical team in the study.
"We have the study in two parts. One is to identify the biological reasons as to why some women respond well to treatment even in advanced stages of breast cancer, while some do not respond even in the early stages. A clue in this regard will help modify the treatment of cancer according to the ability of the patient's response," said Prof. Toniolo.
The second part of the study is the socio-cultural and biological factors related to the diagnosis of breast cancer. Kristin Bright is the overall programme coordinator for the research project at the University in collecting data on the international level from the three outside centres.
"My job is to document social, cultural and economic factors influencing the late diagnosis of breast cancer in women. It may be fear, poverty, ignorance or the last priority that a woman gets in a household. Or it may be a combination of all factors", said Prof. Bright, who is a medical anthropologist.
A study would help the oncologists and the public health authorities to intervene in the right manner to check cancers of breast, which are being increasingly reported in developing countries, said Prof. Toniolo. The U.S. has the largest number of cases of breast cancer, he added.
From various studies taken up in different parts of the world, it is now known that the increase in breast cancer is because of change in lifestyle, said Prof. Toniolo. The genetic factors play only a 10 per cent role, he said. The rest are factors related to environmental and lifestyle changes, he added.
The socio-cultural background is essential here since it is a lifestyle disease. Prof. Bright will be preparing the questionnaire after interacting with patients and will be modifying the questions to suit the cultural demand.

Breast cancer cure for young girls

Breast cancer is the fifth most common cancer. Mostly found in womens over 30s.In the United States, breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in women, and the second most common cause of cancer death in women
Early breast cancer can in some cases present as breast pain (mastodynia) or a painful lump. Since the advent of breast mammography, breast cancer is most frequently discovered as an asymptomatic nodule on a mammogram, before any symptoms are present. A lump under the arm or above the collarbone that does not go away may be present. Other possible symptoms or medical signs include nipple discharge, bleeding from the nipple, new nipple inversion, and changes in the skin overlying the breast, often resembling an orange peel, known as peau d'orange. When breast cancer associates with skin inflammation, this is known as inflammatory breast cancer. In inflammatory breast cancer, the breast tumor itself is causing an inflammatory reaction of the skin, and this can cause pain, swelling, warmth, and redness throughout the entire breast.
Changes in the appearance or shape of the breast can raise suspicions of breast cancer.
Another reported symptom complex of breast cancer is Paget's disease of the breast. This syndrome presents as eczematoid skin changes at the nipple, and is a late manifestation of an underlying breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Ayurvedic Treatment :
The treatment of breast cancer is divided into two different drugs: Drugs for general treatment and Drugs for specific treatment. The general treatment is based on the drugs which subdue the abnormal growth, clean the blood and muscular tissues, restore the balance of the bodily systems, maintain the stamina and heal the ulceration.
The specific treatment depends upon the condition of the breast cancer that is drug for neuralgic condition, drug for hard tumor, drug for lipoma, drug for myoma, drug for angioma, drug for neoplasm developed within the ulcer or wound and drug for adenoma.
Breast Cancer Alternative Medicines :
Ralph W. Moss, Ph.D. - "Conventional cancer therapy is so toxic and dehumanizing that I fear it far more than I fear death from cancer. We know that conventional therapy doesn't work--if it did, you would not fear cancer any more than you fear pneumonia. It is the utter lack of certainty as to the outcome of conventional treatment that virtually screams for more freedom of choice in the area of cancer therapy. Yet most alternative therapies regardless of potential or proven benefit, are outlawed, which forces patients to submit to the failures that we know don't work, because there's no other choice."
