BIRD FLU - Avian influenza - A widely spread viral rare diseases

Avian influenza (AI) or Bird Flu is a viral disease that primarily effects fowl such as chickens, turkeys, guinea fowls, ducks, and other avian species. Fowl plague has been described as early as 1878 as a disease of chickens in Italy. In 1955 it was determined that it was one of the influenza viruses.

There are three types of influenza, A, B and C. Only type A infects animals and only type A can cause a panepidemic. To date, all outbreaks of the highly pathogenic form have been from the H5N1 subtype.

The flu is transmitted from bird to bird by direct contact with the discharge from infected birds, contaminated feed, water, cages, equipment, vehicles and clothing. Eggs from infected hens can break and contaminate incubators.

Humans become infected after direct or indirect contact with infected wild ducks and chickens through infected aerosols, discharges and surfaces. There is no evidence of human-to-human transmission.

White House: Bird Flu Suspected in Michigan Geese

"U.S. officials believe that wild geese in Michigan may have been infected with a strain of the bird flu virus, but it is not thought to be a highly pathogenic strain and is one that has been seen previously in North America, the White House said on Monday."

The world’s smallest wearable cardiac monitor

The world’s smallest wearable cardiac monitor, a toffee-sized silicon locket, is almost ready at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B).

While the tiny computer that can store a week’s electrocardiogram (ECG) data awaits a manufacturer, it is already in demand. IIT engineers borrow it, rig some adjustments and the locket meant to monitor a heart without hospital visits measures tremors in buildings instead.

“I would be the first to buy one for my mother. The basic device is like plug-and-play,’’ said IIT’s professor Rakesh Lal, of the School of Bioscience and Bioengineering, who conceptualised the project with professor S. Mukherji. “There isn’t another product like the silicon locket,’’ Lal told HT from the University of California where he is a visiting fellow. Similar ECG monitors in the market are walkman-sized or bigger.

Quantum-Touch - A new alternative medicine

Imagine a book written like an operator’s manual that enables an individual with no prior background or training in the health sciences to perform vital healing work on himself and others. Imagine being able to learn these vital skills in less time than it would take you to fly from upstate New York to Northern California.
Imagine a book so valuable that it is endorsed by numerous healthcare practitioners, including medical doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, nurses and a wide variety of bodyworkers.
Quantum-Touch is such a book.
Dr. Norman Shealy, M.D., founder of the American Holistic Medical Association and internationally renowned for his accomplishments in the field of alternative healing, wrote the forward, and cited Quantum-Touch as “the first technique that may truly allow us all to become healers.”
Shealy was so impressed after testing Quantum-Touch on his most difficult chronic pain patients – who had not been helped by any traditional or alternative modality – that he included it in a course he teaches at Greenwich University.
Quantum-Touch is a significant breakthrough in hands-on healing in that it enables both lay people and healing professionals to direct life-force energy (often called chi, or prana) to correct health problems. Practitioners learn to hold a very high vibration in their hands through a combination of simple breathing and body awareness techniques, and create a remarkably powerful field of healing energy.
The process of “resonance and entrainment” causes the recipient to match the vibrations of the practitioner, and the patient’s body accelerates its own healing process. The practitioner never becomes fatigued; in fact, it is quite the opposite. Regarding this effect, Dr. Jerry Pittman, M.D., wrote “In its elegance, Quantum-Touch provides healing bioenergy for the healer as well as fro the person seeking healing.”
When the life force is applied to skeletal structure, bones often spontaneously align themselves. Author Richard Gordon provides x-rays showing how a single session caused the axis vertebra to move eight degrees back into alignment, and how the orbitals rotated two degrees to become aligned.
Click here to view the x-rays Chiropractors are finding Quantum-Touch an invaluable addition to their practice, and as Dr. Darla Parr, D.C., wrote: “You actually have to see this work to know how good it is. Bones move into alignment with just a light touch, and it speeds up the healing process.” Gordon explains that “You don’t need to know where the bones should go, any more than you need to understand how you digest your lunch. It is all about letting the body’s intelligence decide such things.” Since these adjustments require no force, there is very little tendency for the body to revert to its old alignment.
Moving bones is only the tip of the iceberg for the variety of healings that occur. Quantum-Touch seems equally good for reducing pain and inflammation and for balancing glands, organs and even emotions.
Quantum-Touch is so well written that many lay people have learned and are using the skills just by reading it. Practitioners of numerous healing modalities use Quantum-Touch because they can seamlessly integrate it into their practice.
Perhaps the most exciting part of Quantum-Touch is that it enables a lay person to develop the competence to help himself or herself – and others – quickly and easily.
For example, most newborn children need an immediate cranial-sacrum adjustment, yet less than 29% of them are likely to ever receive one in their lifetime. This will not be the case in a family using Quantum-Touch.

Through resonance, the recipient matches the vibration of the practitioner, and the patient’s body accelerates its own healing process.
There are an increasing number of valuable new hands-on healing modalities being used around the world. Quantum-touch is the most elegant and most efficient of all the ones I have evaluated. For professionals and lay people alike, Quantum-Touch is an essential and invaluable tool.

PROGENITOR OF AYURVEDA - DHANVANTARI

It is believed that Dhanvantri, the pioneer god of medicine, destroyer of senility, diseases and death descended to earth to teach mainly surgery along with other allied branches of medicine.

One of the earliest and outstanding leaders of Indian culture in the field of medicine in general and surgery in particular was Dhanvantari. His personality and identity are shrouded in the mist of antiquity. Dhanvantari, the god incarnate of Lord Vishnu is a celebrated god surgeon, who comes out during the churning of the milk - ocean by demons and demi gods. He appeared with Amritakumbham (pot of nectar) in one hand and Ayurveda in the other. In Ayurveda, the Dhanvantari is described as the teacher of Sushruta (the renowned surgeon) and his other colleagues, viz., Anupadhenava, Aurabhra, Baitarana, Paushkalavata, and Karavirya and Gopuraraksita etc. Sushruta compiled Dhanvantari's teachings on surgery and his work is known as Sushrita Samita. In Sushruta Samhita, Dhanvantari has been mentioned as the king of Kashi now known as Varanasi (Indian city) specialized by name "Divodasa". By dint of Dhanvantari's self statement as "Aham hi Dhanvantariradidevah" meaning ."I am that Dhanvantari, who appeared at the time of Ocean- churning "; it is obvious that the teacher of Sushruta and his colleagues was the god incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Dhanvantari has been mentioned at several places in the Charaka Samhita (Ayurvedic text) as -"Atra Dhanvantariyanam Adhikarah" i.e. this case refers to surgery or the school of Dhanvantari".
